- Background This gene encodes a member of the heat shock protein 70 family of proteins. The encoded protein functions as a nucleotide exchange factor for the molecular chaperone heat shock cognate 71 kDa protein (Hsc70). In addition, this protein plays a distinct but related role as a holdase that inhibits the aggregation of misfolded proteins, including the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) protein. Elevated expression of this protein has been observed in numerous human cancers. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2017]

Western blot analysis of extracts from MCF-7 cells using db15453 at 1:1000. -
Immunofluorescence analysis of HeLa cells labelling Hsp105 with db15453.
The cells were fixed with cold 100% methanol (10min, 4℃) and blocked in 1% BSA/10% normal goat serum/0.3M glycine in 0.1% PBS-Tween 20 for 1h. The cells were then incubate with db15453 (1:100) at room temprature for 1h, followed by a further incubation at room temperature for 45min with Goat Anti Rabbit lgG (H+L)-AF488 db10005, shown in green). Nuclear DNA was labeled in blue with DAPI.
